Laurence completed her MS.c in Microbiology and Immunology at Université de Montréal (Qc, Canada) in 2018 under the supervision of Dr. Hugo Soudeyns (CHU Sainte-Justine Research Center). The focus of her master’s project was to portray the B cell profile and the vaccine response of HIV-exposed uninfected children. She then pursued her work on HIV as a lab manager in Dr. Petronela Ancuta’s team at the University of Montreal Hospital Research Center (CRCHUM, Qc, Canada) from 2017 to 2022, evaluating the role of Th17 cells in the immunopathology of HIV.

Laurence is now a visiting Scientist in Dr. Paiardini and she is leading a study aiming to evaluate the efficacy of an immunotherapy directed toward IL-10, PD-1 and IL-21 at boosting the immune responses in controlling viral rebound and reducing viral reservoir upon ART cessation in SIV-infected rhesus macaques. She is also investigating the therapeutic impact of potent CD4 mimetic compounds in combination with non-neutralizing antibodies to sensitize infected cells to antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity to clear the viral reservoir in SHIV-infected animals.

Outside of work, Laurence likes to bake, craft, and take care of her furry friends. She enjoys spreading her love for Halloween and Christmas by decorating the lab and preparing treats for everyone.
